Your eyes are the most beautiful things in the world. Don't hurt it =)

A few months ago, I posted my reviews about LASIK at CozyCot forum. http://forums.cozycot.com/health/21366-lasik-eye-surgery-145.html
I posted a lot of adverse effects of LASIK eye surgery and it ended up with different response. Hence, I did not continue to post any more reviews.

Now, I'm revealing my blog. I did not want to let too many people know about my blog, so I did not post it on CozyCot forum that time.

I told quite a number of people about the complications of LASIK. Some said that:

  • it's safe in Singapore
  • those who failed because they did not take good care of their eyes
  • they did it and they are happy with the result - they don't have any side effects
  • if my vision slip again, I shall undergo the enhancement
  • maybe in future they are technologies to cure the side effects
  • how about other methods of eye surgery like LASEK/Epi-LASIK? It doesn't creates flap right?

But I have heard people who underwent LASIK and regretted doing it. Currently, I have/I have heard:

  • 1 person who did it and had long-sightness in return
  • 4 people who did it a few years ago, they are wearing glasses now
  • many CozyCot cotters who did it and regretted doing it (read from page 1 to the end, you will find it)

My research tells me that:

  1. you will not know whether you will suffer from any complications in future
  2. you can't guarantee that you will have ocular (eye) health and vision for the rest of your life. Will you have your healthy eyes for 10 years or 20 years or 30 years? Or less than that!
  3. if you undergo enhancement, your corneal will become thinner and may result in Corneal Ectasia
  4. there are very very very very very limited cure for your eyes
  5. excimer laser is applied to your cornea. You will not know how the laser had destroyed your healthy eyesight. Other methods of eye surgery, be it LASEK/Epi-LASIK/etc, it doesn't make a difference
  6. don't gamble with your eyesight
  7. it's a comestic surgery afterall and you will sign the acknowledgement paper

Conclusion
Besides all of the above information I had posted, I had read CozyCot forum from page 1 to 145, I found out that most people does not have successful LASIK experience.

Singapore has one of the highest rates of myopia in the world. I don't wish to see so many Singaporean got affected by LASIK complications. Hence, I would like to share all these information to all readers or cotters.

We only have a pair of eyes. Once it is done, it is irreversible. Don't gamble with your eyesight.

I'm very sorry to those who had undergone the LASIK surgery.

I'm just giving you all the facts about the LASIK complications you might have later in your life.

Still, I'm not convincing everyone not to do LASIK but simply to share these information with you all. Ultimately, it is your own decision.
